Dirou Caves

It is characterized as the most beautiful system of lake caves in the world. It consists of three caves: Alepotripa, Katafygi, and Vlychada which can be visited. They were first explored in 1950 by the Petrochilos pair of speleologists. The temperature inside ranges from 16-20ο C and in the water 12ο C. Tours are made in small boats by boatmen that guide you in the history of the cave. The length of the tourist route is 1,200 meters on the lake and 300 meters by land, while the duration of the visit is 20΄ – 25΄ minutes by boat and another 5΄ – 10΄ on foot.

The Neolithic Museum, located near the cave, exhibits valuable historical finds from the Paleolithic period. Diros caves and the Neolithic Museum are some of the most important attractions for visitors in Mani.
